Gwenyth Paltrow Lists Brentwood Home for $29,990,000

For years, Gwyneth Paltrow fans hoping to embody her glamorous lifestyle could purchase clothing, skin care and other products from her company, Goop.

Now they can take it a step further. For $29.99 million, Goop lovers can buy the actress’s longtime home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.

Paltrow and her ex-husband, Chris Martin, bought the house for $9.95 million in 2012, property records show. Paltrow is selling because her children are older and she recently finished building a new home in Montecito, according to listing agent Lea Porter of the Beverly Hills Estates.

Originally built in the 1950s, Paltrow’s single-story house measures about 8,000 square feet with six bedrooms, according to Porter, who said it was gut renovated around 2009. Set on about two-thirds of an acre, the house is located in the Mandeville Canyon area. Around 2022, Paltrow added a one-bedroom guesthouse with a wine cellar, office, gym, game room and movie theater. There is an apartment above the garage.

Paltrow, who has written several cookbooks, spent hours cooking for family and friends in the home’s kitchen, which has double cooktops and ranges and a wood-burning oven, Porter said.

Paltrow has two children with Martin. When she married writer-producer Brad Falchuk in 2018, he moved into the house with his two children, and it became a home for their blended family, Porter said. The couple, whose children are now college-age, plan to downsize in Los Angeles, and will split their time between L.A., Montecito and Amagansett, N.Y., where Paltrow also has a home, Porter said.

Paltrow is an Academy Award-winning actress best known for her roles in “Shakespeare in Love” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” She founded Goop in 2008.

The Mandeville Canyon area is known for large, rambling lots with tall hedges and old-growth trees. “The privacy factor is huge,” Porter said.

Hip-hop superstar Kendrick Lamar recently inked a deal to buy the house next door to Paltrow’s for more than $40 million, and celebrity talent agent Scooter Braun paid more than $62 million for a mansion nearby in 2021, records show.

Overall, ultraluxury sales have slowed in L.A. since the introduction of a new property tax on large transactions last year. In the first quarter, the number of luxury single-family home sales in Los Angeles dropped 19.6% from 2023’s first quarter, while the median sale price fell 10.5%, according to real-estate appraisal firm Miller Samuel.

Still, Porter said there are buyers in the market for luxury homes, and quality homes sell regardless of market conditions.
