Located in the iconic Hollywood Heights neighborhood, the 2,458-square-foot two-story house was originally built in 1921. Considering all that time standing—and its onetime rock-star occupants—it makes sense that it’s a little rough around the edges.
Nevertheless, it’s a solid structure with two bedrooms upstairs. On the lower level, there’s a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment-style setup that could have easily been used as a studio when the musically inclined couple resided in the home. While it wasn’t revealed exactly how they used the property, Cobain is known to have written most of In Utero, Nirvana’s third studio album, in the space. This would be the band’s last before his tragic death in 1994.
