This year completes my first decade in real estate

A second career for me, which I always feel beyond blessed to have found. It has been an incredible ride forming so many amazing relationships. In recognizing this milestone, I had the pleasure of sitting with friend and marketing strategist Clark Vautier to reflect on my last 10 years in real estate. His keen questioning brought up what’s worked for me in building the business I have. Check out the interview below.

To cap the year, I just spent the week unwinding in Southern Baja in a hip town called Todos Santos. Once known for its thriving sugar plantations, it now has a pioneering feel as it found its second wave as a farm to table desert destination—like a beachy Joshua Tree. I was lucky to have found my own wave, having surfed for seven straight days. It was a great time away with family to rejuvenate and reflect on 2023.

As I look towards next year, and the beginning of my second decade in real estate, I intend to focus on deepening my relationships and finding more ways to be of value in servicing clients real estate needs. Some predict lower interest rates will result in revived buyer demand and bidding wars. Others say a crash. Whatever it will be, I know there will be opportunities. Having just spent a week in the water, I find it similar to a surfer in pursuit of a wave. There is a lot going on and that one could worry about. To find success we need focus. For me trying to ride one, it was to paddle longer and harder into the peak point. And only then, if I felt the wave take me, the second task was to head right. With real estate, like so many endeavors, we just need to find the energy in it. The direction and balance come once you're in a deal and the swell has got you up and fueled with momentum to go places.
